We don't actually know the name of this place...it's down by the sea wall, but our family calls it Red Roof Soba...because it has a red roof...and their specialty is...soba.
It is the first place we went to eat on our weekly adventures...and the adventure requirement is actually that we try a new place each week...but some of us have been here 5 times now. It's just that good.
This time we took friends...Molly, and her beautiful daughters Belle and Bergen, since we were both sans husbands. Belle is Coree's age and Bergen is Jake's...and their personalities match, too. It's great.
Normally, kids resent being relegated to the kids' table. Somehow, these kids don't look like they mind. (It was more like, we were relegated to the adult table.) They are a riot together...and it was so cute to see them all using chopsticks like no big deal, ordering for themselves by pointing at the pictures and using the right buzzwords and hand gestures.
Then these guys were playing the part of our adult companions. They did a great job with the intellectual conversation...I think Molly and I felt a little out of our league at times...I know I did!
I'm sure they were relieved to see our big American gang exit. There were very few people here (it was a Monday night) so we kind of took over our little corner and let our hair down. As Troy put it, "I feel like a giant water buffalo trampling all over their neat little culture." (Which he told me is an approximate quote from Dave Barry.)
Well...at least we try...
We had just enough time to run in here afterward...
(This is actually a picture I took another time...obviously, because it's not dark.)
I also learned that the English name of this Patisserie is "Bakery Castle". It seriously feels like something out of an Anime' on the inside. They have the sweetest, tinkly music in the background...everything is so tidy and beautiful.
Anyway, we dashed in and got our desserts to take home. What a great night!
